    At OUR age....

    Friday, February 12, 2010, 12:59 PM [General]

Traveled to Austin to a computer educator's convention this week; interesting to see the range of ages there. Reminds me that a teacher in town, knowing I am a techie (okay, I am a geek actually), said I was something of an anomoly being so good at and interested in technology at our age (54 in my case).

So, my question is: how many of you are into technology at YOUR age and what is your level of comfort with technology, especially with learning new stuff?

A side note: went to a reception one evening that featured Phillipe Cousteau, grandson of Jacques Cousteau.  Phillipe noted that his grandfather was very interested in technology and kept up with it.

    Some things don't change......

    Friday, December 25, 2009, 4:09 PM [General]

There it was ..... even though I am 54 and Mom is 87..... the eye roll.

My mom lives with me, which works most of the time.  Recently however we were about to go out on an errand.  I got a sweater - this is Texas, not as cold most winter days - and started to put it on as I headed out.  She looks at me and asks if that is the wrap I am choosing.  I start back to the closet to get something else and she is saying how she thinks I will need something warmer and..... etc.

Before I can stop it or even think about it, there is it -- I roll my eyes just as some of you have likely seen your teenager do.

Some things just don't change in the parent - child relationship.   By the way, in case you are wondering -- yes, she still has the ability to embarrass me in public still also.

With a grin, signing off from the post.

LOL at your steamed veggies comment!! We have been so lucky so far this summer. We've only turned our AC on once for a very short time, and that was just to make sure it was working. The rain we've had has been gentle, no storms or hail. Low humidity so far. It's been wonderful!! But, I know hot and humid will arrive at some point. Enjoy your day!

Hi Betsy ~~ "I feel the sky tumbling down." I felt acouple of minor quakes years ago when I was in South America. It is a strange sensation for sure! We are still in school here in New York, but are counting the days!! I'm a middle school teaching assistant. I also live in a small rural area, and love it! No city life for me! Hope you have a wonderful summer!
