Thursday, Carmen and I headed down to The Bay to sit at our leisure in the Cityview Room only to discover it was closed at around 4 o'clock. To save the day, ...er, evening, I said, "We can go to B------k downstairs. We went in the back way from between the elevators at street level in the Simpson Tower.
As we drank pop, I wasn't watching what Carmen ordered but I think it was a beef hamburger of sorts with a substitute of mashed potatoes instead of those divine vegetable chips. They put a cut little circle of gravy on her mashed potatoes that looked very much like a stuffed, iced cookie. Oh, yes, it was ground Alberta brisket of beef she ordered.
My sandwich was more elaborate. I had a bun with dill-pickle mayo on top of which was laid a free run turkey burger of the most delectable flavour topped with lettuce, heirloom tomato slices, mashed avocado and topped with a substantial beer batter onion ring beside vegetable chips. I particularly liked the white beet chips with the red veins and the tight edge white turnip chips.
My side order of wild mushrooms was too plentiful for one and Doña Carmencita didn't want any.
For dessert, we both had soma ice and ice cream. Carmen and had three little balls of real vanilla bean ice cream and I had three little balls, too, of mango ice. Both were topped with a raspberry. I ordered sour cream doughnuts to take home with me. It was dipped in thyme flavoured icing. I couldn't catch a fruit fly with the syrup so it's safe anytime! Do join us the next time we go to B------k. God bless.
