We had a great party here a few days ago. Every other day for almost a week the weather has been miserable, drizzling rain, cold, leaves falling on everything and sticking to your shoes. I was hopeful that the other alternative, a sun shiny day, would HAPPEN on the day of the Party. Pooh, it was rainy and just plain ugly here.
Never mind about that. We all trouped about 20 miles from home for a special ceremony to commemorate a LIFE ACCOMPLISHMENT of a family member. We sang the National Anthem, Texas Our Texas and few other moving anthems. By the time my family member's name was called, I was crying tears of joy.
After the ceremony, we all hugged and then made the trek back to the house for the PARTY. I had set the table the day before, cleaned for days, everything was PERFECT. Even the food had been prepared in advance. A pre-glazed ham was in the oven just warming up.
A dear friend stayed at the house to unwrap the food minutes before we got home. God bless her for her help. We even had a fire in the fireplace snapping and popping.
I served a great big glazed ham, croissants, homemade sausage from a White Tail (taken last hunting season), an enormous fruit platter, Pasta Salad, condiments, Wine, sodas, and a decorated Chocolate cake. Everything went on the table and that was that. I could enjoy the PARTY too.
We had a houseful of guests and they left grudgingly. We were sad when it was over. I drove my dear friend home, a few miles away. There, a few blocks from home was a car accident, two Emergency vehicles, someone lying on the street injured. I still shudder when I think about. It was foggy (pea soup). On that note, I hope we all have a SAFE holiday; be careful.
Merry Christmas everyone!
