Hi Penney, Since we last communicated, The Purple Orchids went back to the pub for a quiz night. It was also my birthday and the owners of the pub dressed the area up in Glittering purple and silver cloth - like a throne. My chapterettes crowned me with a beautiful Swarkovsky crown that they had bought me as a birthday pressie. I had made a red-hat cake and shared it around the pub. It was an absolutely brilliant night - some of the husbands came along. I have now purchased 6 red baseball caps for future occasions so they can join in the fun. We went to see Sex in the City last week. Everyone in the cinema was dressed up for the occasion but we were the only ones in hats ! ! Last Saturday the Royal Horticultural Centre in Wisley dedicated a sweet pea to The Red Hat Society. It is called Ruby Red Hat. Members of 12 Chapters throughout England met there for Sweet Peas and Teas ! Lovely cream tea. We will not be able to purchase the sweet peas until next year and then it will be in packets of seeds. On Tuesday we went across to Lille (border of France and Belgium) for a playdate. We shopped for Britain - really impressive. Unfortunately when the train guard took our photo at the end of the day, he missed the 27 carrier bags at our feet ! Oh, I forgot to say, I have now made a website for The Purple Orchids. www.purpleorchids-redhats.btik.com. It is a bit hit or miss, but as I haven`t ever had a lesson, I am pretty much self taught, I am quite proud of it. Do log on, you will then see all our photos etc. So, as you can see, we have been keeping busy. We are having so much fun. What have you been up to ? Queen Mal Shopalo... |

Hi Penelope! Welcome to the QMB2! This is such a fun place to play with so many groups to join here and lots of great Ladies to chat with! Julie Rose of Texas |

Hooray, Penney! As a Registered Social Service Worker, you certainly do onerous work living through some of your clients' bad moments with them. May Redhatting offset the worst of your days at work!
