I can't say it hasn't been an eventful year! Events I'd like to have done without, but still eventful!

I went "home" to spend time with a dear friend, see my Dr., etc. Oh, we did have such fun things planned, my friend and I! I had even hoped to drive up to see Ant Judy and Alice!! However, life had other plans.

Within 23 hours of landing in wonderful New England I was in the E.R. with a sprained ankle. The right one, of course, so I couldn't drive! grrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Two weeks after that (no shopping, nothing, because I couldn't leave the house) I was back in the E.R., this time with blood clots in my leg. So....... I spent the next 4 weeks going through painful injections, trying to regulate medications and generally keeping the leg elevated and of course off the sprained ankle. What I saw of my wonderful hometown this trip was the squirrels playing in the trees outside the bedroom window!!

Tonight I finally came back to Florida........ wiser but definitely not happier. The vacation that wasn't! :) Still in an aircast and using a cane... shouldn't be driving but I am (how else to get to the Dr here tomorrow for follow-up???).. and the house is a disaster area, of course!

I'm not at all sure how much I'll be here... have to keep the dang leg elevated as much as possible yanno!!! I'll sure be glad when this year is done... and hopefully next year will be much, much less eventful!!!

Anyone who knows me or who bothers to read what I write here knows what the last 6 months or so have been like for me: a flooded house, having to move out, a broken bone in my back, dealing with all the renovations,  moving back in, hospitalization.... just one thing after another it seems. During this whole time, I've heard from exactly one woman in my chapter. Actually, she's called mainly to find out when we were going to do something with the chapter, even knowing what I was going through. My VQ has moved, as has my Hysterian, so they can't take up any of the slack, although they certainly did what they could when they could. Bless them!

Tonight I had a telephone call from the one woman who has called occasionally, and she was ...... not nice! Because I have nothing planned......... never mind that I'm still recovering from bronchitis and still have a houseful of boxes (although it's coming along slowly) and that I'm making my yearly trek to my Dr. in MA next week.

I've thought a lot about my chapter recently and I'd made a few plans for next month, through the holidays, etc. However, given the attitude I encountered tonight, I didn't share that information. Now, I really have made a decision: I'm done.

I will now be a chapter of one. I'll join other chapters if and when invited, I'll meet ladies visiting the area as I have before...... but I'm done planning for people who don't appreciate anything that's done for them, and do nothing but complain no matter what's planned. Unless we're doing something strictly in one area of the county they don't bother going and they complain incessantly. Who needs it?? Not I !!
