This would be a cute project to get the chapter together to make! They could also be favors for a red hat event.

Red Hatter Day at Timonium Dinner Theater
My chapter sponsored our 3rd date in 2008 at the Timonium Dinner Theater for red hatters on this past Sunday, September 7th. The show was "Jukebox Jubilee", a musical revue of music of the 50's, 60's and 70's.
It is always so much fun to meet red hatters from other chapters, and I do wish that there was more time to chat at these events. But it is still good to touch base with them and hopefully, we will have lots of other opportunities to get together in the future. It is also great fun to have the chance to catch up with the groups that have come to our shows in the past.
The show was a lot of fun, a wonderful trip down memory lane. For me the highlight of the show was when they did "We are Family" and all the red hatters were on their feet and singing along... "We are family, I've got all my sisters with me..." it was such a touching moment.
We had several participants in our contest to come dressed as a star/group from one of the eras covered by the show, or to decorate a hat in the theme of the show. We had a group of six ladies dressed as the Village People (complete with music and dancing) , a lady dressed as a dancer from the Buddy Deane Show (a Baltimore show like American Bandstand) and a lady dressed as Elvis. The contest was a lot of fun and all the participants got a prize.
My little doll, Harriett Pot-tah (featured in an earlier blog post) found a new chapter to join. She was our first door prize given away and all the ladies loved her transformation story. This show we had more hats as door prizes and fascinators. One of the new items I began making this time were hat stands from old candleholders. One lucky lady took home over $175 from the 50-50 raffle. Our portion of the raffle money will be divided and donated to the Shrewsbury and Glen Rock Volunteer Fire Departments later this week.
As usual the red hat afghan grand prize was a big hit. I was a little apprehensive that this one would not be as popular with the ladies. This time the hat featured red hats, purple hats, pink hats & lavender hats. The big difference being that the background was black for the first time instead of the white I had used on all the previous afghans.
Even our Jukebox door decoration left over from the '08 Harrisburg Red Hat Convention found a new home and will now reside in a red hat room in Baltimore with one of the ladies that comes to all our shows and participates in all the contests.
I'm having some problems with my Photoshop so I've not been able to crop and re-size my photos. As soon as I get the problem resolved, I'll post some photos from the show.
