Good morning, Ladies! I hope everyone is having a good Monday!
This Sunday, November 2nd, my chapter, Rose Brigade is going to see "Menopause The Musical" at the Scott theatre here in Fort Worth. We're using part of the money from our Red Hat Auction in September to take $10 off each of our tickets. We're going to be dressed in or Red Hat best with lots of bling! It's going to be so much fun!
Don't forget to change your clocks back one hour this weekend! "Fall back, Spring forward". After next Sunday, my work hours will change and I will be getting off at 5:30 p.m. every day! Woo hoo!
Yesterday, it got up to about 84, so I opened up the doors and windows while I cleaned house. Last night, a cold front blew in and now it's only 45! Brrr!
DH has brought some of the plants in before we get surprised by a freeze. Never know around here...Texas weather can go to extremes in minutes!
Hatquarters mentioned this in the S.O.S. bulletin and I know some of you have already done this...however, let's make this a "Red Hat Pay It Forward Challenge"......
A few facts first...
The bulletin says there are 28000-29000 chapters with over 16,000 Purple Perks members (excluding Queens).
As of Wednesday, October 22, 2008, 6:35 p.m. CST, the QMB2 showed 2575 members.
QMB1 stated 13,633 of 46,285 members have made 71,792 posts in 103 forums.
That's alot of Ladies!
So here's the challenge:
Each of you who reads this pay the Purple Perks for at least one other Lady. It can be someone in your chapter, someone who has not yet joined or any Lady at all.
I will post this in my Rose Garden Group on the QMB2, and on "Hatters Chatter" on both boards.
Just pop into any of these places and post (a simple "done" will work), then we will get a general count of all participating!
Contact Hatquarters to do this (with the Lady's info):

I love a challenge and I think this will be fun as well as a benefit to our Red Hat Society!
Since I received the S.O.S. from Hatquarters on Friday, I have been doing quite a lot of thinking about the Red Hat Society, what it means to me, my chapter and what if it all goes away.
Each year, in December, my Christmas present is the renewal of my chapter. DH and I live on a minimum income...my pay check every two weeks is about $600.00. DH does not work due to his fibromyalgia and arthritis. We do not have any kind of health insurance, so he depends on the VA clinic and we pay out of pocket for medical expenses. That includes the $600.00 we just spent on my tooth. We do not own the house we live in, we rent. We own the one car we have, as we bought it from his Mother. We do not have any credit cards, as they laugh at our income if we try to apply for one. We live within our means...if we don't have cash for something, we don't buy it. We haven't been to a retail store in about three years. Most everything we own (including our clothing, appliances, furniture) have come from resale stores, yard sales and / or relatives, friends and neighbors. I can't even remember the last time we had clothing that hadn't been worn by someone else first. DH clips coupons and buys store brands and items on sale at the grocery store.
Once a month, I splurge and do something fun with my chapter. Once a year I splurge and renew my chapter membership.
The Red Hat Society has become a big part of my life. After a long day at work, I can come here to the QMB2 and interact with so many wonderful and positive women. Being a member allows me to step away from the rules, regulations, demands and negativity of "real" life.
I know that on those days when I feel like curling up in a corner and crying like a little baby, I can come here and ease my soul. And on those days when I feel on top of the world, I can come here and share that with everyone.
I wish I could send Hatquarters money. I wish I could pay for all my chapter members to become Purple Perks. But the reality is, I cannot afford to do either. I applaud all of those who can.
If Hatquarters was here in Fort Worth, I would find time to work there for free. I would donate my time to working in their store or in their office.
I am proud to be a member of the Red Hat Society and queen of my chapter, Rose Brigade and it breaks my heart to think about losing them.
It's Saturday! Woo hoo! Last day of the work week for me!
Tomorrow, my chapter is going to Mexican Inn. I love their food. They have some awesome chicken quesadillas! Should be a fun afternoon for us!
The weather here has been so wonderful lately. Cool enough in the mornings for a light jacket and the afternoons make you want to just lie out in a lawn chair and take a nap in the sunshine.
I'll be so glad when the time changes, because my work hours will change too. We'll be opening an hour earlier, but we'll be closing an hour earlier. It really does make a difference for me in the evenings.
Welcome to the QMB2! This really is such a great place to play! There are so many different virtual groups to join here. You'll find lots of great Ladies to chat with! And each click of your mouse will take you on a new adventure!
So glad you're here!
