Chapter 70564
Date: June 20, 2009 Ayala Park, Chino, CA
Present: Debbie Kathy Dee Bonnie Alline Katheryn meLissa
Late spring morning- we met at Ayala Park. The 5 of us started off on the walk when Katheryn & Bonnie drove up. We walked back to meet the LaDieS.Nearby a group of people was setting up equipment and tables for a daylong event. The name on the side of the van was a local Baptist church. As we started to walk by a few of the ladies started to sing "I am a child of God". Fortunately, they didn't hear the song. One of the gentlemen stopped and asked what were the group and the colors of our outfit. After describing our chapter, we posed so that our picture could be taken.
We took off walking the trail at an easy pace. The sky was clear and bright, the air cool. We walked down the path towards a circular planting, leaving a few slow-pokes ½ way down. We met them on the way back when Bonnie got tired. Katheryn walked ahead to get her wheelchair and met a park ranger who met up with Bonnie to give her a ride in her golf cart. By then Bonnie had caught her breath and refused the ride. We walked back to the parking lot and our cares and decided the best way to end the morning was to go eat!
We went to the Avocado House, (except Alline) and replenished our weakened bodies with delicious food. Ahhh, the best of everything.
Have a "bee-utiful" day,
Queen Bee Debbie

Chapter 70564
Red Hat Society Birthday Party
Birch St in downtown Brea
10-1pm
Date: April 25, 2009
Present: Debbie Kathy Katheryn
We scheduled an activity for this Saturday for a fashion Show but things sort of fell through the next best thing was to celebrate the birthday by going downtown Unfortunately April is such a busy month that only the Queen Vice-Queen and Grand Dame Happy Honey were the only ones to attend the event You should have seen the different costumes! There were stripped bathing beauties to fancy Victorian ladies We brought home some souvenirs for all our sisters Lady Honey Bee and Grand Dame Happy Honey received free massages from the Aetna health group We had lunch at a local Mexican restaurant and a cupcake at the end The weather couldn't have been better It was a great time.
On an unhappy note related to the above Although invitations were sent out in the form of a card not just an email I received only two RSVP Dee is always the first one to reply and then Susan told me that her grandson had a tball game and working with the Mormon Helping Hands project and Thalia also had a tball game and MHH project
I hope each one of us realizes the importance of responding to invitations is a social nicety which everyone should observe
Un update on Beth: After her initial stay in the hospital and rehab Beth had a relapse where her blood sugar was so out of control that she had another two day hospital stay but that she is finally home with her daughter caring for her We wish her well and hope she gains the strength to rejoin us once more in our activities.
Well January February March and April is gone and May is already here We have an activity in June with a fundraiser activity hosted by meLissa.[details coming soon ]and Dee told me the other day that she has an idea [yippee, details coming soon ] for an activity but that no one has signed up for the rest of the year. Does this mean that we aren't going to get together -is our chapter going belly up? No! We started this year with the agreement that you wanted to be free to host an activity or luncheon Well?
So sign up !
Choose your luncheon/activity month: Gina, Eloise, Alline, Terri

December-Christmas
On a happy note but sad just the same we will be losing Katie while she and her husband go on their mission to Europe How exciting that must be Katie you must remember to email us to share all your experiences with those of us who you leave behind.
On a sad note Terry's father passed away this past month We send our condolences to Terry and her girls Kathy and the Queen attended the funeral and Dee lost her way and never did find the church
Up down up down that is the way the month of April went Im exhausted hopefully we May have a better month this time.

We had a wonderful time at the local ward, Chino Heritage, where the majority of the members of our chapter attend. The ward was having a RS Birthday Party at which the Red Hat LaDieS were invited to perform a song for the group.
Dinner was served first with delicious taco salad bar and birthday cake for dessert, of course.
Afterwards we played a game like used to be done on "Let's make a deal". They read out a 2 line poem which asked if you had in your purse different items. The first one to be acknowledged was able to choose from a basket of prizes.
There were several women who were asked to relate what their "purse" was at this time in their life. One woman's purse was a diaper bag with all the accoutrements for the baby. Her own personal items were contain in one tiny little wallet in the bottom of the huge bag. Then there was the lady with a large but stylish bag to contain everything for young children in school. There was the woman with a stylish little boxy handbag for the woman whose children are in high school. It was big enough to contain her blackberry and keys, and not much else. The last was our very own "Toot Sweet", Bonnie. She, of course, read a humorous account of her days with her "travel bag" purse from which she had all the necessary items to care for the aches & pains, woes & cares of the later generation of women.
The Red Hat LaDieS then stood to sing a song about "Your Purse-onal Journey" to the tune of Count Your Blessings found at a website called the Homemaking Cottage which is geared for the Latter-Day Saint Relief Society program. The address is found at : www.enrichmentcottage.com/hfpe/personalr... We had a great time. We sorely missed the rest of the LaDieS. We could have used your voices.
Have a "bee-utiful" day,
Queen Bee Debbie

Red Hat LaDieS BUZZ Notes...
Chapter 70564
Date: February 21, 2009
Present: Debbie Kathy Bonnie Susan Suzi Alline Katie Beth Dee
We met at the Chino Wal-Mart at eleven am and it only took a few minutes per person as we were only getting our pictures done for wallet sheets. We made a deal that when everyone has their pictures taken I will go down and pay for the cost and let everyone know what their share is. Dee joined us for pictures but left to be with Jim as he is still in the hospital. For those who didn't get to come to the portrait day, I have my business cards that you can take to the studio so you don't have to pay for the photo upfront.
After the pictures we went to the Shoppes in Chino Hills to Jody Maroni's Sausage Kingdom. As we were getting out of the car we were approached by the person in charge of the "Let it Be Foundation" She wanted the Red Hat LaDieS to come by after lunch to get their pictures taken. Katie joined us as we went to the shop because the stand in the promenade was only selling the sausages and we wanted "more" We had a variety of foods. Kathy and I split the club sandwich which was so good that we also got the prime rib sandwich I liked the club better The side of chili fries was also very good.
We walked back to the promenade where an announcer was going around talking to different people about the Let it Be Foundation.Fifteeen percent of all the purchases that day would go towards the Let it Be Foundation which provides support and services to families of children with life threatening medical conditions. For more information visit www.theletitbefoundation.com/about_us.ph...
We had a great time and miss everyone that couldn't make it

Red Hat LaDieS "Reduation"
January 27th, 2009
Spunky Steer Restaurant
Chino, CA
"Pink, a lovely shade, but RED! so much bolder
Rumors flying telling me, one of us is one year older
There is a lady here wearing a lovely hat of pink
The color is all wrong for her, don't you all think?"
"A change must be made if she is to stay
She must have a red hat and it must be today."
"Lady Honey Bee will you walk the pink path one last time?"
Thus Lady Honey Bee became a red hatter on her 50th birthday.
No longer is 50 a birthday to dread But cause for a celebration instead And so we salute a former pink hatter As we proudly proclaim that RED HATTERS MATTER!
Now gather ye round & join hand in hand And ask that our sister Kathy, please stand As I carefully lift her pink hat from her head To replace it today with a chapeau in RED
We shall drape purple over her shoulder The color we wear as we grow older
Reduation complete, we announce this day Lady Honey Bee is ready to come out with the big girls and PLAY!
Each member gave her red flowers to carry as she walked around the table. The Queen Bee read the "Warning" poem by Jenny Joseph and each of the LaDieS gave her an item from the poem: summer gloves, cheese & cracker samples, alarm bell, a stick, a certificate giving her permission to pick flowers in other peoples gardens, a booklet on "Learning to Spit", a terrible shirt, a Sausage, a slice of Bread & a Pickle, a box with pencils and a place mat. The Queen gave her a hand-jeweled sport hat commemorating her reduation.
We sang Happy Birhday to her and finished off with a bouquet of more roses.

Have a Beautiful Day! Queen Bee Debbie

Chapter Renewal:
Discussion ensued regarding dues to the Red Hat Society. Due to their financial status, the Red Hat Society is now requiring ALL members to pay dues to them ($20/year). Before only the chapter had to pay dues.
It was suggested to have a Fund Raiser event to help raise the money needed for all members to pay the $20 due to the Red Hat Society and the $10 to our chapter.

Chapter ID #70564
Date: November 2008
Due to the accident of our Queen Bee Debbie, we had a short potluck luncheon @ the Duchess of Dough's house. We put together a small gift to give to the residents of the nursing home we are carolling at in December. Our Queen was able to attend but sat there and smiled, listening to all the chatter.
More updates later-
