What odd behavior does your cat have??
Saundra told us about Sophie opening doors all over the house, and in a comment under her blog I posted a comment about my Abigail and the way she gets into the bedroom in tha morning.
Now she has a new one, when it's almost time for DHs alarm to go off she starts running around on the bed like she's chasing something. The first time she did it I thought she had a mouse on the bed and almost had a heart attack!!! She is quite the mouser, and we seem to have more than our share this year. (Tho' I must say Abigail and Elmo are thinning the ranks on a regular basis.)
So what do your cats do that's cute, endearing, annoying??

Re: What odd behavior does your cat have??
My outdoor cat Sandy is the mother of five of my indoor cats. We had her spayed 6 and a half years ago after she raised her kittens that we rescued from our yard. She did not eat for six days when we rescued her and brought her inside with her kittens, so we put her back in our yard and continued to feed her on our side doorstep. We put a driveway monitor on the side of the step so we knew when something came to eat (it was not always a cat). We would chase away the raccoons and make sure Sandy had enough food whenever she was there. Eventually she learned that by sitting in front of the monitor and making it beep continuously, I would come to fill the bowl again. Now she does this at all hours of the night, and I get up to feed her. She really has me trained!

Yes, I really think cats are good at training their humans. One of my males, Elmo, sits on the sink when I'm on the toilet and taps me with a foot until I reach over and kiss the top of his head. And he doesn't stop at just one!!! This can go on the whole time I'm there unless I grab him and make loud smoochy noises all over his head. THEN he leaves me alone.......

Re: What odd behavior does your cat have??
Well, the Pampered Princess, Abigail has done it again....... she really is a trip. Yesterday she showed up with no collar, which means no bell, which means no warning for my son when she attacks his feet. He is the ONLY one she does this too, and we can't figure our why, but then, we're not cats, just lowly humans, aren't we....Since she is black it is easy for her to hide, but this time it was right out in the open. He went to step over her, and she reached right up and grabbed his foot and held on. She held on long enough for him to grab her and deliver her to me. Now tell me, what cat is going to understand you're mad when you can't stop laughing????
We still haven't found her collar, which makes her look like the two males, all are black, except the boys are allowed to go out. Well, I'm standing in the kitchen this morning, and I her Her Highness crying and crying, then I spy a small black cat outside on the deck railing, mind you , I have no glasses on now. SoI go fight with the back door, to let the cat that I THINK should NOT be out there in the rain into the house, and in walks Elmo!! But while the door is open, out scoots Abigail!!!! She didn't go far, and she turned around when I said "what are you doing out there" and came back in. So I guess she was crying to let me know Elmo was out there, and decided to make a run for it. She HAS been outdoors, but doesn't like it much. Just last week she got left out over night, and you never saw a happier cat when her people showed up in the morning!!!
I HAVE TO FIND THAT COLLAR!!!!!

Re: What odd behavior does your cat have??
Found the collar.....but the breakaway part has really broken, not just come apart like it should have. So off we go tonight to get a new collar for her.
It's been raining for two days here, and the cats have all pretty much stayed inside. But this morning I was at the computer and I heard a cat crying at the front door. Well I went to see what fool was out in the rain, and to my surprise it was ABIGAIL again!!!! How she got out I have NO idea, must have been when everyone left for work, but the poor thing was soaked to the bone and shivering. So I grabbed a towel and took her in the bedroom to dry her off. Well, she must have thought this was a new game, because real quick she was so tangled in the towel and bed covers I couldn't see her...... After I got that sorted out she cuddled up for about 5 minutes, then went off to tell the boys about her adventure.

I'm here, too! I've just been out of town for a while (twice in May), and have been really busy. All the fur babies are fine here. New Guy just had his heart ultrasound re-check today, and his heart condition hasn't improved from the medication, but it has stayed about the same. He gets checked again in six months.

Re: What odd behavior does your cat have??
HI Cindy, sorry to hear there was no improvement, but VERY glad to know I'm not alone here. I was getting ready to drop from the group, if I didn't hear from someone by Monday.
With all the silly things cats do, I thought this would be a good topic, but I guess my house is the only one with crazy cats.

Re: What odd behavior does your cat have??
Just want to give a shout out to the kitty lovers! Liked Duchess' blog entries and your stories. Nice to know we are not alone surviving kitty shenanigans! My husband and I have had numerous pets over many years. Three years ago, we brought a little Russian Blue kitty into our home. Life will never be the same and we're glad. I knew her breed was usually really close emotionally to the family and liked physical attention. We truly know now what it is to be 'owned.' Kaahtia loves her humans! I have some pictures on my Home page.
Like anyone else, I have lots of annecdotes, but the main thing this cat does is leap. And I mean, flying through the air, over high-obstacle, big-air leaping! It is beautiful to see except when she slightly misses her mark (rarely but it does happen). Then I totally freak out to see if she's okay, lol. We got her an 8 foot cat tree so she could make use of the vaulted ceilings. So, does she simply climb it like most cats? No... she leaps from the table onto it. Sometimes she leaps up clear to the ceiling really fast and hops around at the top - it's hilarious!
We got a column bed a couple months ago... kitty heaven. I had no idea she'd go up there to the top...silly me. She went up the dresser to the pot-shelf over to the armoire so she could leap across to the column. I have a picture of her up there on my home page too. I was sure she'd fall and kill herself but, so far so good. Then my husband starts playing with her while she's up on the column - they now have a game where she flattens herself around the top of the column and attacks his hand when he reaches up. Once she's bored of all this, she simply goes back the way she came. ~Iris~ Duchess of Tea

My cat seems to want to lie down on top of my shins to part my legs and fit in between. After all, I belong to her for her comfort don't I?

Xrissy turned seven last 30Jul10. She was born the morning The Rolling Stones were engaged by North York to entertain the publlic in GTA for free. She now realizes most of her life is with me and speaks to me every time we meet in the apartment. Sometimes, she comes around when I'm sleeping and starts purring just because.

I have a seal point Himalayian and he is someting else. He seems to have an internal alarm clock for 5:00 am. If I don't get up in time he will come on my side of the bed and swat me on the rear. It's a rude awakening but usually gets me moving in the right direction, the kitchen for his breakfast. They do have us trained don't they?

Re: What odd behavior does your cat have??
My funny little cat who is really too smart for words "juniorizes" herself as I call it to make up to me by setting her tail way back and appearing awkward instead of the fearless feline she is. I keep her so well buttered up with kisses and "cat talk" sounds as Mama Kitty did when she and her two litter mates were tiny she purrs and rubs up against me on request usually.

Re: What odd behavior does your cat have??
My cat loves root beer floats. Every once in a while I eat at a place that has self serve ice cream just so I can make her a float to bring home. Once they were out of root beer and I made it out of Dr. Pepper. Sorry, she turned up her nose at it, it HAD to be root beer!
