The year 2008 really came too quickly for me. I still have projects left undone from 2007. I am still trying to get my red hat bedroom finished (now still a total mess). I did finally get my computer/craft/sewing room where I could work in it. Now that the new year is here I am going to finish up my red hat bedroom for sure. I am still getting holiday decorations put away and will finish that in a day or so. Then it is back to work on that darn bedroom.
"My stockings all hung by the chimney with care"
Well, here it is again - almost Christmas time! I just love this time of year. I have the house all decorated and am ready for Santa to arrive. However, will have to leave the porch light on this year as I was unable to put lights outside. My DH does not do it at all (retired from the Postal Service and always worked long, hard hours during Christmas) so since I am having some foot and leg problems - no lights outside!
It is the typical weather for this time of year in Texas. One day we need the heater and the next day the air conditioning. I want it to be cold for Christmas. I remember one time when I was little it snowed around Christmas time which was a very rare occasion here in Texas. I loved it.
I wish all of my Red Hat friends a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
Thanksgiving Has Come and Gone
Thanksgiving Day has come and gone. I hope that each of you had a wonderful day filled with family and friends.
As for me and my family ( all 4 of us) we had our usual turkey dinner and afterwards I got to sit down and the others did all the clean up. While hubby watched a football game, daughter, granddaughter and I all piled in my big bed and watched a movie and took naps. Later it was time to hit the kitchen again and then another movie. All in all it was a quiet and peaceful day for us.
Now it is time to put up the pumpkins and start the Christmas decorating. It seems as though the seasons just get here to quickly for me nowadays. Maybe it is because I do not move so fast anymore and hardly have time to rest before it is time to decorate for another holiday.
I love Christmas however. It is my favorite time of year. I am not able to put out as many lights outside as I use to (have always done it by myself as hubby is now retired from the Postal Service and he was always working when it was time to decorate - he did not like Christmas much), but I always do a lot on the inside. I have to admit that it is also getting harder to do that. I will keep doing it as long as I can.
To me there is nothing like getting everything pretty and then sitting back with a fire in the fireplace (in Texas if it gets cold enough) and a cup of hot tea with soft Christmas music in the background. The lights are all sparkling and the candles are all lit. That is a time that I can take to reflect on the past year and think about the new one. It is also a time to get in touch with my spiritual self and the memories of Christmas in the years past. It is a time that I can find peace and tranquility and know that the best is yet to come.
I wish for all my Red Hat friends the very best of holidays.
Texas QMB Fun Weekend
I have had two weekends of Red Hat fun. This past weekend we had a Texas QMB gathering with regular QMB posters from the QMB. What a fun time was had. On Friday we went for lunch at a place decorated in the 50' called Johnny Rockets. Then it was on to shop for some bling. On Friday night we ate dinner at The Cheesecake Factory and took water taxi rides. Of course we all stayed up too late on Friday night laughing and having fun. On Satruday we went to a little place called Old Town Spring (it is actually a town with all the old buildings that people used to live in and they have been turned into little shops of all kinds) for a day of shopping. Saturday night we had a pizza party and played games. I came home tired but with a lot of wonderful memories. After two weekends in a row having Red Hat fun I am going to stay home with weekend and catch up.
December will be here before we know it and I already have the whole month planned with Christmas parties with friends and family.
A Wonderful Red Hat Weekend
This has been a very wonderful weekend filled with Red Hat fun and friendship. On Saturday several of us met up with our CaliTex sister Queen RoseRed from California that was in my area visiting family.
On Saturday we met up at a Mexican restaurant and had lunch, fun, laughter and margaritas. A special surprise for Mar was a visit by her friend SandyTX. After lunch we went to Sam Moon Center for everyone to shop for bling. Afterwards, SandyTX and Queen Dipsey Doodle (Kathy) joined me at my home for a slumber party. After going to bed in the wee hours of Sunday morning we slept in and later had brunch before Sandy and Kathy had to leave for home. Sandy to Temple, Texas and Kathy to Point Blank. It was another great weekend for my memory book.
It was marvelous to see Mar again and it was fun sharing the day with my other Red Hat sisters who came to welcome Mar back to Texas even if it was for a short period of time.
It Took Me Awhile
It took me awhile to get back on this site, but glad I am back again. I have been busy getting ready for the fall season. Have the pumpkins all out and the house is finally decorated for fall.
Now I can sit back and enjoy! The weather here has been wonderful for the past few days. I hope it stays this way for a long time. Due to a little health problem I have been unable to go anyplace since I got home from the 2007 Texas Convergence. I have had lots of time to get caught up on some projects and work on my calendar for next year. It is already filling up so looks like another fun filled year ahead for Red Hatting. In December I am going to Dickens on the Strand in Galveston, Texas, in February going to a Madri Grads parade in Lake Charles, LA, a large tea and sytle show in Houston and then in April to the QMB event in WF, Texas, In May I am traveling with my good friends Queen Dipsey Doodle and Sandy,TX to Georgia. Then hopefully we will also be going to Savannah in October 2008. I am glad that I have had this time to get caught up because I am going to be very busy it seems next year.
I wish good things and happy hatting to all my Red Hat sisters!
