I love my dogs. I have three - an almost 12 yr old Cairn Terrior, an 8 yr old PeekaPoo and my baby, Dudley (pictured here) who is going to be 4 yrs old. They are great company altho are spoiled rotten. All three are boys.
In the last few months I've been having problems with Fergus (the oldest) marking anything he finds sitting on the floor. This is a real problem for me! They are confined to my kitchen which is very large so they have lots of room. I always keep a clean piddle pad on the floor and in the past, if they need to go and I don't pick up on it to take them outside, they use the pad. But, that seems to have changed for Fergus.
I don't know what to do about it other than scold him when he does it. I'm wondering if it's because of his age or what. Anyone else have a similar problem and if so, what did you do about it?

Hi Hynie, I have 4 dogs, 3 boys & a girl, all Bassets. My oldest boys, Elvis & Duke, have done that same thing. They do it more so at night. It is partly due to their age & they are trying to get my attention. I take their water bowl away after 10 pm. Have you had his urine checked to make sure he doesn't have a kidney infection? Hope this helps.
