We're back and it was wonderful!

Well, we made it back, just in time for another blast from 'old man winter'. I hope everyone has managed to dig out of the snow.

I've had my electronic photo album on my desk all week. Boy, do I wish I was back on the Emerald Princess!! The pictures, while great, do not do justice to the 10 days of fun we had. Snorkeling at St. Kitts and seeing 5 little squid along with many other fish. Swimming with the turtles at Barbados and watching the Turpin feed. Visiting the sugar plantation and sulpher springs on St. Lucia. Body surfing with Foxy One at Magens Bay on St. Thomas (The Red Snapper made a movie of this but I haven't seen it yet). But the highlight for me was standing at the top of the Bird Sanctuary island at Antigua and looking at the Atlantic Ocean on one side and the Caribbean Ocean on the other - spectacular!!! Great snorkeling there too! I'm sure glad that I had prescription lenses put into my snorkel mask. This year I could really see lots of details. (If you want to get prescription lens put into your snorkel mask then visit your local dive shop and ask them for the name of an optometrist in your area who does this type of work. It is definately worth the money!)

Then there were our Red Hat activities. Games on the beach at Princess Cays (you really have to watch out for Bees - her games were very inventive and deceptively tricky - they made for some great laughs and pictures!) A Red Hat tea with 4 of the OTB presiding - unfortunately Lady Diedre of Tea was unable to join us but the others had a great time. A pool party - yes some of our ladies are great floaters and some even can do a Red Hat version of synchronised swimming! A cocktail party complete with 3 coronations and a visit from the cruise director, Neil! A PJ breakfast that had everyone smiling (the staff loved our obvious joy in being together and also our 'uniform'). Lady Shutterlens had the best outfit that morning! Our final gathering was a private wine tasting - some of the staff even wore our hats while they spoke about the wines we were tasting.

We met many Red Hatters who were also passengers on the ship. Many were sorry they hadn't thought to bring a red hat with them. It sure was nice to meet so many wonderful ladies. It seemed that over half of the 3100 passengers were from Canada. Every where we went we met people from across Canada. It was great!

All in all, it was a wonderful 10 days and it passed much too quickly.

Now I need a little rest before I post an invitation for you all to join us on next year's cruise.

    3rd Red Hat Cruise Extravaganza

Just think, in 3 weeks we'll be on board the Emerald Princess on the Caribbean Sea!!  I don't know about you, but I can hardly wait!!  I've started setting out the things I want to take, keeping in mind that some outfits can be worn more then once (formal nights - I don't have to take two outfits so only really need jewelry and perhaps a shawl to make the outfit look different).

I'm hoping you will want to share some ideas here - excursions you've signed up for, things you'd like to do on the ship, an important event you'll be celebrating while on the cruise (birthday, anniversary, etc.).

Of course, I'm also hoping for some lively discussions following the cruise, complete with photos!
