Keeping... ACTIVE. In our Lives and in our Groups
As you likely know by now,
If you're looking for me.....
If you're looking for me....
Well, it's that time of the month/ year again!
The time when I need to be... several people!
LOL
Got a list a MILE long... filled with all kinds of things!
Just finished sending emails to all of the August birthday girls
(for their upcoming birthday celebrations).
Still got 4 sets of twins to match
Want to do a "celebrate the new twins" blog here on my "Mitsie" site... after all of the twins are matched up
Want to do a "Birthday Blitz" of the gals waiting for a new twin,
here at this site in my Birthday Group, AND at the old QMB1.
Working on the new Welcome/ Groups Listing (while I wait to
hear back from the August gals)
Want to catch up on posts in all of my Groups over here, and
join in with some of the "fun" stuff in other groups
That's the "internet" side of Red Hatting.
Want to send out birthday cards to the July and August
birthday gals, and send out membership cards to the
ones in the past few months that I haven't had time to do yet
And of course, there are the past cards I owe.. to the
Cats Card gals, and my chapter ladies.
We won't even THINK about all of the stuff I need to do
in my non-red hat life! Housework, and cleaning.. never goes
away, no matter how busy I'd like to be with the "fun" stuff!
This week has been a wash-out for collecting rocks, shells, beach
glass and driftwood... summer storms hanging around, with thunder
and lightening, and LOTS and lots of WATER.. coming down,
and filling up everywhere. The only thing I've been able to do
outdoors this week is.. pick raspberries!! Yum!!
Got lots of relatives and family events, and festivals and etc..
happening for the rest of the Summer.
See you.... around, off and on, here and there.
Mitsie
doing the many people thing again this Summer!!
Life in ONE word..... Asthma
I've stayed off the computer
pretty much the past 2 days.
I have asthma, and won't be
around much, until it's treated
and I can breathe again.
Just wanted you all to know
why you might not see me
in my Groups much this week,
as I'd planned to be.
Been sitting in a chair, with
the fan blowing the air around.
Doctor's appointment Wednesday.
Hopefully, I'll be back here by the
end of the week.
Mitsie
Well, it's the end of the week... and now I'm in a flare.
Won't be doing much on the 'Net til next week.
See you then.
Setting Goals and Living Our Lives
Setting Goals ~ Living Our Lives
I was watching a program on Newfoundland
last night, and something one of the women
they were interviewing said really stuck with me.
"If you listen to all of the people who
don't like what you are trying to do,
you will never accomplish anything."
A little background on the circumstances that
caused her to say that on National TV.
The Program was "Land and Sea",
a Canadian-only Program, I believe.
When the bottom dropped out of the Cod Fishery (off Newfoundland)
in 1992, the communities all over Newfoundland were affected.
The Program concerned those fishing villages on *Change Islands*,
to the North of the Province. One thriving fishing community in particular
went from 1000 people down to about 300 at the time of the Show.
10-15 people now make a living from the sea.
They were told by the Government to "diversify". Fishing is all they knew.
However, the Tourism Industry is beginning to be the life blood of the
communities on the Change Islands, due mostly to active participation
by a few individuals, one of whom I am talking about here in this article.
One of the couples who transplanted from another part of Canada to live
a quieter life on Newfoundland came up with an idea that the old fishing
shanties and buildings along the harbours should be preserved, so that a
way of life wouldn't be forgotten for future generations.
The woman told the interviewer that some people loved her idea,
but a lot of people didn't. She ignored the complainers, and went
ahead with her project.
Today, the old fishing shacks and shanties, shops and houses,
are preserved, so that a way of life is not lost to history.
And, it's a huge drawing card for their new "industry"; Tourism.
Believe me, the beautiful scenery shown in that Program would be
a perfect place for photographers to take their photos of a lifetime!
Move over a bit... to our new site here in the Red Hat Society.
What I am trying to do here on this QMB2, our new home in the RHS,
is nowhere as important as preserving a fishing community in Newfoundland.
However, it is trying to preserve, to a certain extent, a way of life for
the RHS members who are here at the QMB2 site!
I didn't mean to have my suggestions taken as criticism by the owners
of the "inactive" groups. I simply did not want our "way of life" here
on the QMB2 site to be lost while we waited to be noticed in the
less than active "older" Groups.
The TV Program about preserving the lifestyle on Newfoundland's
Change Islands motivated me! It affected me to the point where
I felt a need to bring my words to the QMB2 in an article.
I haven't written for a long time, mostly because I spend about 90%
of my free time, here on the computer doing things in the RHS.
My choice, admittedly, as it is something I believe in fervently.
These words are words to remember.
"I don't listen to the complaints, I just work
really hard at what goal I have set for myself.
Because of this, a way of life will not be lost."
My goal for the QMB2 site is to have a
thriving community of RHS members
totally separate from the old QMB.
There are many of our members who are not active at the old board;
in fact, many have not joined over there, they have joined.... here.
We as the "founders" of this site need to throw off our "old" ideas left
over from the QMB1, and focus on our bright new life here on the QMB2!!
"My" ideas for FUN things to do, HERE, exclusive
to our QMB2 "Community", are many.
They come from many places I've seen (and read)
and are as follows (another list... lol)
Just insert the heading "QMB2" before each group
Secret Sisters
Christmas Stocking Exchange
(similar to the Shoebox exchange)
Christmas Ornament Exchange
We Love Our Webkinz Group
Card Making Group -
already started by Bunni, thank you, Bunni! Way to go!
Cat Lovers Group (I'm in the process.....)
Christmas All Year
(for those of us who love to celebrate Christmas in July,
and/or look for gifts and decorations all year round)
Addicted to Photography
(i.e. our cameras are part of our attire.... lol)
Night Owls
Vegetarian Cooking
Seeing the World by Postcard
These are just "my" ideas of fun things to do
here on this site. I'm hoping others will put
in requests for their favorites too.
Once we've got a large number of newly formed
groups, plus the current already active groups
here on the QMB2, we will have our own
thriving community, and ....
the future is ours!
I'm continuing to send out welcomes to the newbies who join....
every day. I'm keeping my "list" of groups to join contained
to the groups with actively participating members.
This changes every few days. I do give them the link of the list
of QMB2 Groups provided by HQ, so that they may check into
whatever groups they wish to. But "my" focus is on the actively
participating groups, or groups that are (patiently...lol)
waiting for new members to start having fun.
All in all, I believe that we can have a lot of fun
here on the QMB2, as long as we look to the future,
and leave the past behind.
Just a little note... of my two Groups in the Red Hat Society,
the Birthday Twin Search Program is the only one that I will be
running from both RHS sites.
The Fibro Group will concentrate here on this site, with
email contact for the others left at the old board.
The Birthday Twin Search Program is run as a "chapter"
(whoo hoo), with participation.....
at the old board
here at this site
via email
snail mail and
some twins talk on the phone, and have met each other!!
We reach everyone in the Red Hat Society!!
Onward and upward, RHS "sisters"...
let's start living *here* on the QMB2!!
