Seeing that there are some theme groups and chapters (pirates, sock monkeys, pirate sock monkeys...), I'm wondering if there's potential for a Red-Hatted League of mystery and puzzle fans. In addition to meeting up online and arranging in-person events (Da Vinci Codesque scavenger hunts, mystery dinner theater, book discussions, movies...) there's also potential for wrecking mysterious mayhem at conventions. (Hm. Maybe we could kidnap a sock monkey...)
Anyways, being brand spankin' new, I'm not quite yet ready to launch this as a chapter. I'd very much like to connect with anyone else who has interests along these lines, and we'll see how the mystery unfolds...
Note: I solemnly swear I came up with the name on my own, but the "Red-Hatted League" is also mentioned in Barbara Allen's novel, Antique Flee Market. Both instances refer to Conan Doyle's "The Red-Headed League." Both are recommended reads. |
