    Merry Christmas!!!

Tuesday, December 23, 2008, 09:10 PM PST [General]

How did that time pass so fast. Here it is Christmas Eve & if it weren't for the frigid cold weather & icey streets I wouldn't believe that winter is already here. We've had quite an ice storm for the past few days & expecting more to come. I had a treacherous drive to the hospital (only 4miles away) for my final surgery for breast reconstruction on Friday. The surgeon said all went well. He took the bandages off yesterday. Now I don't need to go out in the cold . I can stay in & look out the windows at the ice & snow. I don't think I will build a snowlady like I did last year. I think I'll stick to indoor activities. I want to thank all my Red Hat Sisters for all of your prayers & encouragement this past year. I'm looking forward to a great 2009. I hope to see many of you at convention in Texas. L.U.L.A.S. & (((HUGS))) LouAnn

    Happy September.

Sunday, September 7, 2008, 01:09 PM PST [General]

Summer is almost over. (officially Sept. 21). Being in the Midwest U.S. I am cherishing the short time left of warm weather. I know Fall is always a beautiful season around here but I'm not ready to let go of summer just yet. I have healed well from my mastectomy 6/26 & I changed my original plans & had breast reconstructive surgery on 8/29. I am sore & tired but content with my decision. Now I will have saline injected into the pouches that were surgically implanted. Saline will be injected approx. every week until they reach a comfortable size. I am happily anticipating my "new look".  Has anyone had experience with this procedure?

I haven't been here in awhile either!
For our hat decorating each lady brought their own hat & whatever embellishments they had. We pooled the stuff together and each created a fun decoration on our hats. Some ladies were fine on their own, some needed help, and one was clueless (we ended up doing hers for her!). All in all it was a great afternoon!

    Hi LouAnn!
Thanks so much for commenting on my photos! I don't get here too often, but I just put more photos on so I'm up-to-date again.
You must have been referring to our 'hat decorating' event. We've had 2 now, and although few come, those of us who attend have a great time! Each person brings the hat(s) they want to decorate, and any embellishments they may have. We each put the items we brought and are not planning to use in the middle of the table, and they're free for anyone to use. We end up with assorted flowers, ribbons, trims, feathers, tulle, etc. One of my girls has a huge table, so we've done it at her house each time. Some ladies who come have no clue what to do, and others are very crafty & willing to help. We all ask each other what they think of our ideas, not being obligated to follow anyone's advice. The main idea is that you decorate your hat the way you like it. One of our older ladies came once who had zero ideas & embellishments. If someone comes who wants to 'sit in the corner' and do her own thing, that's alright, too. She's missing out on the camaraderie, but that's her choice! At the end of the event we model our creations and tell each other how wonderful we look!
I hope this gives you an idea of what we did. Of course depending on who comes, it can be more silly or not, but there's always laughter & that's the best part!
    Happy Hatting!

    LouAnn,

I am glad all has gone well with your operation, I pray you heal well, and get your energy back real soon.

In looking at your photos, I must have met you at the 40's thing, as I remember meeting the other gals right, as I went back to danceing. I wish I realized it was you my dear, as I have enjoyed talking via QMB boards the past year. Dog gone it, my memory keeps goofing me up more and more lately.

I am even in the photo at Capone's that you took,I vaugely remember being in the photo. I stood and talked to Ima while we were waiting inside to go outside to go into Capones.

Sheesh, I missed my chance to give you a big Hug.

A Cyber Hug will have to do,

    Leah
