Another adorable picture of my goddaughter. I had a hard time getting this shot, because she won't hold still for candid photos, she always wants to pose!

This is a picture of my god-daughter, Lucy, aka the most beuatiful baby ever. This is an old photo of her; she is nearly 2 now, but she still looks about like this. SO CUTE! She's very smart, and babbles words and phrases all day long. Her favorite Golden Book is "Nurse Nancy," so I bought her a little toy doctor's kit. I can't wait to see her playing with it! A great group!

It's raining!!!!!!!

It's raining!!!!!!!
I love the rain. I grew up in a dry rural
area, where the weather was a constant matter of prayer, and rain was ALWAYS a
good thing. I distinctly remember an 11-month period when we had no rain or
precipitation of any kind. When it finally rained, even adults were gleefully
running out into the streets in the middle of the day!
Now I live in Southern California, where
even in a drought year, weather forecasters apologize for predicting rain. I
tend to agree with Chesterton, who once said that he loved all kinds of weather
except a "glorious day." Of course, my coworkers all think I'm completely crazy,
but I get very excited when it starts raining! Rain is life, people; rain is
hope! Rain means that the farmers can pay their bills!
I have a private balcony at my house, and
tonight I intend to cook a hot dinner, grab a blanket and a good book, and sit
out on my balcony in my comfy blue easy chair. And just listen to that rain
fall. Heaven.
Why I love Red Hatters

One thing that being a Pink Hatter in the RHS does is allow you to be around women "of a certain age" and observe them. I have noticed something interesting: it seems that whatever sort of person you are when you are young, you become more so over the years. For example: if you spend your youth complaining and whining and so on, you get downright crochechty! If you insist on seeing the bad in everything when you're young, you become unable to see anything but the bad when you're older. Conversely, if you focus on the good things at a young age, you find it easier to see them as time goes by. If you keep your mind active and keep learning when you're young, you'll have an active mind when you're older (barring, of course, accidents like strokes, Alheimers, etc which are no-one's fault!). And if you learn to be kind, fun-loving, and happy as a young person, then of course, you grow up to be a Red Hatter! To all my Red Hatter friends: watching you has been so inpsiring! You've made me improve myself and my outlook now, because I want to be like you as I grow! Thank you for your wonderful lives! Hair

In January of last year, my hair measured 39
inches; I had my roommate give me a trim, to remove the last of the damaged hair
at the end (years of dyeing take their toll!) When she was done, my hair was 35
inches--I was so sad about those 4 inches, but it had to be done. The last time
I measured my hair, it had mostly grown back, and was 37 inches
long.
I measured my
hair last night; I used to measure it monthly, but when I moved last summer, I
got out of the habit. When I look at the tape measure last night, it read.....41
1/2 inches! Yes, that's right, 2 inches longer than when I first cut it! I am so
happy about it! Now I only have about 24 inches left to hti ym goal--having hair
down to my knees!
