Kay wore her red satin nite cap to surgery!

    Sunday, May 18, 2008, 10:32 AM [General]

I did wear my red satin nite cap to surgery!  Jane Volk had suggested it so I did it for you Jane...lol!   The anesthesist took a second look as the attire on my head was explained to him and my doc loved it.  Before they finally put me out everybody in the OR had a history lesson on the Red Hat Society.  They actually threw the paper cap they usually put on your head away and promised I would have my red satin nite cap on throughout the procedure.  Someone later told me I was the talk of the hospital that day....well I don't know if that was good or bad...lol!

A few of my chapter members came to my room to celebrate the 10th Anniversary of our wonderful Red Hat Society.  They decorated and we just had a party.  Some of the staff joined in too.

Surgery is over and I am home.  The whole thing is still kind of a "fog" so my verdict on the experience is still out.  I am continuing to go to rehab out-pt.  I spent 2 days in acute care and 6 in acute rehab and I was ready to leave and do my out-pt therapy.  They say I am doing well.  The worst thing is being without my arthirtis meds because I am still on a blood thinner for now.

Just wanted to share my experience....please view my photos under my gallery...there are 5 of them.

    Love to you all!

    RHS 10th Anniversay & Kay's Surgery

    Saturday, April 19, 2008, 10:23 AM [General]

My sisters I want to wish all of you a great 10th Anniversary Celebration for our wonderful sisterhood.....The Red Hat Society!

My VQ is planning something for my chapter in my absence......on Monday, April 21st I am scheduled for a right total knee replacement at 7:10 am.......all prayers appreciated!  I am a retired nurse so it is hard for me to be the patient and I am as hyper as a chigger on steroids right now.  I believe my chapter is planning a visit to the hospital in regalia, playing kazoos and blowing bubbles!

Something I didn't think of ...but my sister Jane Volk from Lexington suggested I wear a red hat to surgery so I am wearing my red satin trimmed in purple lace nite cap and yes I will have pictures to post when I am able to get back on here again.

Happy 10th Anniversary and Love to All of You!

Kay (Queen Kbella, Timeless Treasures of Western Kentucky)

Linda Kay I am so proud of you and so pleased you are doing well. You are my hero!!! You had fears (and who wouldn't) but you faced them squarely in true Red Hat Fashion and smartly dressed for the occasion. With this behind you there is no stopping you now. Another surgery, an illness, you know how to beat and treat it. YOU ROCK, GIRL!! Love and Hugs Jane

Linda Kay, I hope to meet you in person someday. It is wonderful you can take such a tramatic incident and look back and laugh. Good for you. Out of 100's of women I have talked to who have had knee replacements done only one woman said, she wished she had not done it. Everyone else said they wished they had done it sooner, as I made an incredible difference in their lives. Hugs and Laughter, Puppymomma
