    At the Mini-Vention

Hi!  Four of my chapter went to a local (well kind of- 3 hrs away) Mini-vention in Hudson valley, NY.  It was a first for some of us.  What a wonderful time we had-  two nights and 6 meals later- many new friends- what more could a woman want?

There were door prizes at each meal, a Red Hat competition, Costume contest and door contest.   We went as a herd of Purple Cows (rather see than be one).  I made a Wizard of Oz hat - sadly didn't win the contest, but have a few kids that want to borrow it for Halloween.

And the entertainment!!  Queen Genevieve planned wonderful entertainment for us - I was hysterical during  much of the shows and amazed at how well they sang.  Danced my feet off at the cocktail party-  I'm wearing comfortable shoes from now on!!  Skip the heels that glow.

Of course there was shopping and eating.  Did I really need another hat?  Still  I bought a hat and a red Cleopatra hat anyway.

Was truly sad to end the trip and would have liked to prolong the time with new friends.  Maybe that's why the bus we rented got hung up on a turn- got an hour more with friends.  Of course we could just stand around waiting for the bus to be towed off the deep dip.

We had such a good time-- hoping more of my ladies can make it next year.

    Dinner Out

Wednesday, September 24, 2008, 12:59 PM EST [General]

Hi- it's been awhile-- having a little trouble keeping tract of all the places I need to visit on the computer-- how do you all do it?

We had a nice dinner out for our Sept. monthly.  We even added a new member. Also wore my new hat- got at Dorney Park-- although the white spring with the red poof(think Dr Seuss), is hanging down in the back--

Looking forward to going to Jones Beach this Sunday to meet Long Island Red Hatters!!!!

And for me, the ones from the dollar store, the thrift store, or the one that's lovingly hand made, are the best. I have a battered witch's hat that came from a dollar store in 2003 along with a spool of black cat ribbon and can of red paint. The paint went on, the ribbon was festooned and a few jewels were found in the button box. Voila! Halloween. That battered hat has generated more smiles than any other in my collection and I wear it proudly every year.

p.s. I love the one you are wearing in your photo. Fun and games...yet utterly Queenly.

Why do you have to live so far away? We (The Zooper Zanies) could have so much fun together. Keep blogging your good times.
