We built a house, moved into it, and put our townhouse on the market....In August of 2006. Then the bottom fell out of the realestate market. Since then we've paid double mortgage, gas, electric, water and taxes. It has cost us more than $30,000 to maintain an empty house. We've dropped the price twice, more than $20,000. No matter what happens, WE are going to have to write a check when we sell.
BUT we finally have some one making an offer!!!!!!!! Please, Pray that it's something that we can live with. I'm real tired of working overtime, and the stress is getting to me
I should explain that Bickforn House is an independent/assisted living facility. I started a chapter there, and today was the first meeting.
Only 8 had registered, but 16 came!!! I started by reading "Warning" and explained about the beginning of the Red Hat Society, with Sue Ellen and her friends. And how it had grown to be a world wide dis-organization in 10 short years. Then I told them that there were no rules, and the only purpose was to have fun.
Some had their own hats.and I brought several of my old ones to give out, and plenty of material to make enough whimseys a facinators to go around. (I have way too much red and purple craft supplies). So we made facinators and decorated hats and got to know each other.
Then we had our refreshments, lemonade and watermelon. The only catch was we had to eat the watermelon the 'old fashion way', without spoons or forks. Yup, we had juice dribbling down our chin and sticky fingers. It took a while, but most of them got into it.
There was only one problem. I had planned to have a watermelon seed spitting contest, but all I could find was SEEDLESS watermelon. So we played a modified Bozo's Buckets instead. Angeline, the winner, got a Red Hat ring.
Finally we drew a name out of a hat, and crownd Dorothy, the First Queen of Bickford.!!!
Next month we will be making home made ice cream, chocolate won by a 3-1 margin. And making name tags, I am terrible with names. And crowning another Queen.
It was a wonderful experience for me. Many of the ladies came up and thanked me afterwards.
So many people are in your boat right now. My BIL is doing the same thing. It is very stressful. I'll keep you in my prayers for the duration. Good Luck with the SELL...
Hi Judy,
thanks for caring. I just emailed her mother to ask for permission so I can get the information to you. I'll let you know as soon as I do. Although I can tell you that Aug. 26 is her first appointment date.
Hey Lady In Waiting. You just brought back so many memories for me. I too, have B/G TWINS, who will turn 21 this year. They were born 2 months early. My son is the oldest and he weighed 2 lbs 15 ozs. My daughter weighed 3 lbs, 5 ozs. There was also another set of boy twins in the same unit (nine days older and weighed less than my son). My daughter did every thing FIRST. The next day her brother would do it. Within the next couple of days the other TWINS would do it. The doctors just loved it because my daughter (all girls - do things FIRST) would set the pace for the boys to reach. They are also my military children. My daughter should be back in the U.S.A. on July 13, 2008, from IRAQ. Let your son know, THERE IS LIFE AFTER TWINS. I also have a third child, who is 19. They are 18 months apart. Tell your DIL to join a TWINS group. That was the best part. All the support and friendships you build along the way. Welcome the the "2". It's where we have the most FUN learning what happens when we click on a button. There are alot of sisters who can help you...so just ask. Enjoy ALL your blessings and have a great 4th of July.
Hi Judy,
Thanks for your kind words.
I am not the most computer savvy person I do not know how to block someone from sending me emails. All I have been doing is deleting unread. Maybe you can let me know how to do the blocking, if it is not too complicated.
One of the ladies has returned to the chapter, one has joined another chapter, the one planning to leave has happily decided to stay! I am delighted! One is so turned off I seriously doubt the damage can ever be repaired.
I really think that the girls have been very supportive, this has shown me I made the correct decision, although it was very difficult one for me. The chapter seem to be more relaxed and ready to have fun,in the end that's what we are all about.
Hatter Hugs
