    Some thoughts on --ongoing discussions

Saturday, October 18, 2008, 04:08 PM EST [General]

I have been spending alot of time on QMB1--reading various threads and putting in my "liberal"views--I don't know how aware of this any of you are--I know Mitsie knows and she has been supportive. Thanks. This is very important to me and I was amazed to see how conservative many Red Hat ladies are--my liberalness has probably evolved starting in college and thru out the years. I truly feel we are all equal and that we all deserve a chance--possibly I have had things fairly easy-supportive parents-who managed to get me educated so that I have always had a steady job-and relatively good health--I am very frugal and know I can probably survive on less than I have now-I truly beleive in the Golden Rule- well that's my soapbox for today--maybe more later.cc

    This and That

Monday, October 6, 2008, 01:00 PM EST [General]

Didn't get to the art fair--babysat instead--love those grandkids--I gave Adrian a Star Wars sword to go with his Halloween costume. He loved it.

Been going a little crazy on QMB1-started a thread for the ladies of more liberal lean--of course others can't help adding their 2 cents--if only I could just sit back and not respond--it is good to know that RHS has ladies of all persuasions--things are pretty one sided so close to Ft Knox.

Still no rain-I bet I'll be c/o about too much soon--I have one lone zinnia in the garden-it is beautiful though-7 or 8 wild turkeys have been coming up daily--and 2 small deer have been grazing in the back yard. Well that's my life.

    CC update

Monday, September 29, 2008, 02:27 PM EST [General]

Back from Florida--it is still hot and dry here--wild turkeys are out in the yard today--pecking around for grubs or something--just as long as they don't go over to my tomatoes.

Will try to get the chapter together to attend the St James Art Fair in Louisville on Saturday--several were interested initially but we'll see. I have always wanted to go.

Been watching CNN today--my 401K is not doing well--Oh well--I guess I'm just going to have to suck it in..I wish I understood what was going on.  And I wish I had a little more faith in our present admin.

Grandkids were over on Saturday--I got them their Halloween costumes--while on vacation--Kaila will be a witch, Elysia a Victorian princess--their costumes are from Cracker Barrel--I got Adrian a costume from Walmart-a scary phantom and then I got him a Star Wars sword--they looked really cute--if I can figure out how to download their photo-I will.

    Zingers Go to Tea

Tuesday, September 16, 2008, 09:52 AM EST [General]

This past Saturday-Seven Zingers went to afternoon tea at Gracefully Yours Tea Room in Vine Grove Ky--I would reccomend this tea room to anyone in the area--You can try as many different teas as you want and the hostess serves a plentiful delicious tea--I was so full I skipped my supper-her husband --the host is charming and helpful and the tea room has lovely decorations and a nice shop where you can buy the various teas-plus many other lovely items. A good time was had by all.

I have started Debbie Macombers latest book-8 Sandpiper Way- and I am enjoying it--Going to Fla for a week tomorrow and have several new books to take along--Hope to get to the beach this trip!!

    Heartland Red Zingers-Fall Plans

Friday, September 12, 2008, 08:16 AM EST [General]

Well we have worked out a schedule for a busy fall. Hope it works! This Saturday-we'll go to Afternoon Tea at Gracefully Yours Tea Room in Vine Grove. They do a lovely tea and the people who run it are very nice. They place a Bible Verse at each place setting which is very nice.

In October we'll go to the St James Art Fair on 10/4-

November has a play and another tea tentatively planned. Deb is going to have her annual Christmas Cookie and Red Hat Gift Exchange and we will also go to The Woman's Club and Heritage Council's Tea-all this in December.

We are also trying to go to lunch at least one time a week-sometimes two. This is hard to keep  up with-but I try. Jan and I started this chapter together and since she moved to Virginia I have tried to keep it going. Deb and Diane have been alot of help-but I have alot going on. I think of myself as a ViceQueen or Queen's Assistant rather than a Queen. Chatting on the phone has never been my thing--Emailing is fine but frequently I am not sure if people even rec'd them. Well I'll try to post a picture of Jan and I here.
