    Dear Lord,

    Please bless this hat.
    It fosters immediate friendship.
It puts a smile on people's faces.
It makes the wearer glow from within with a feeling of benevolence.
It provides shade from the woes of the day.
Let the wearer of this hat find peace and contentment in the sisterhood.
Thank you for the gift of the hat.
    Amen.

This Blog is dedicated to Hattie the Traveling Hat and was suggested to me by Lady Chapeaux - Louise.

A Brief History of Hattie: In June 2001 a Red Hatter Queen named Janice from Illinois won an eBay bid for a 1950's red hat; which turned out to be an orange hat. The problem was quickly resolved when the seller sent this red hat free of charge, so Janice received two vintage hats for the price of one. This was the start of Hattie's new life in the Red Hat Society. After receiving a few new sparkles Hattie was ready for fun and adventure.

The URL consists of 15 pages that indicate where Hattie has been and where she is going. If you have the time, read pages 1-15.

I added two momentos from two of the many places that Hattie visited during the stay with me and my chapter, Hudson Valley Violets
(ID #34355) registered in Orange County, New York. The two momentos are on the back of Hattie at the top of the red floral decoration. They are:
The Mohonk Mountain House in New Paltz, Ulster County, New York and a West Point Military Academy Cadet representing the dining room at
The Thayer Hotel, West Point, Orange County, New York.

On Wednesday, March 21, 2007 Hattie arrived at my house and was sent to the next recipient on Thursday, September 13, 2007.

To reserve Hattie, E-mail the following information to whoever has Hattie and if Hattie's Travel Journal indicates that Hattie isn't reserved during that period of time you can have Hattie.

    Send: Your full name
    RHS username
Your full address, including zip code
If you have a PO Box, your street address is also needed just in case someone wants to send Hattie to you using UPS.
Home phone number and cell number
    Your chapter's name
    Where your chapter is registered
    Name or type of event
The beginning and end dates of Hattie's stay with you.

Two weeks of travel time on USA destinations should be taken into consideration.

The member who has Hattie and the Travel Log decides who can reserve Hattie and when. She is the only one who knows Hattie's schedule, since it is frequently changing due to altered circumstances.

If you've hosted Hattie in the past and would like to post some of Hattie's photographs, send the jpegs and descriptive information to me at 4carolan@optonline.net
