About Me Retired British journalist and PR manager now living in the south west of Normandy, France.
I took early retirement five years ago to set up a videography business, but broke both legs within weeks. I got a taste for the life of Riley and have not worked since! Never been bored for one single moment either!
    Interests Red Hatting (of course)
    Family History
Learning the French language and way of life
    Hobbies Travel
    Photography
    Videography
    Watercolour painting
    Gardening
Music Wide ranging from jazz to classical, pop to opera. It all depends on my mood.

Met the Beatles before they became famous
Movies West Side Story (cry every time), Un Homme et Une Femme, The Pianist
TV Love Eggheads and watch the French equivalent of Countdown 'Des Chiffres et des Lettres' every evening.
Books Favourite authors in no particular order
Susan Howatch, John Grisham, Michael Connelly (read all his books in French), Dean Koontz, Patricia Cornwell, and Jonathan Kellerman. This bias towards detective stories may have something to do with my past history as a crime correspondent.
Also read all the Harry Potter series in French. It looked like it might be easy when I saw the first book. Got a bit more complicated towards the end, but I'm well up on French wizardry vocab!
    Likes The scent of roses
    Friendly outgoing people

    Dislikes Moaners
    Narrow minded people
Tripe, gizzards, animal heads and trotters - which one must actually work hard to avoid in this part of the world!
    Vices Can Be Lazy
    Chocolate
    Ice Cream
    Virtues Sense of humour
    Loyalty
    Generosity
Family Widow for more than 21 years. Two daughters, Charlotte and Sophie, sons in law Paul and Phil and grandchildren Liam (14), Lily (11), Lewis (10) and Emily (9).
    Are you a Mother? Yes
    Are you a Grandmother? Yes
Pet(s) Not at present. I'm a cat person but feel that the situation of my home is unsuitable. I would dread going outside and finding my pet had been hit by a car.

'Muriel' the Pluriel is my surrogate pet, even though she is a bright orange Citroen.

    Hie Everyone

I have been absent from here for so long, as I have been busy dealing with the registrations for the Funvention at Disneyland, which is only just over six months away now!

If you have not registered and are thinking about it, just please get in touch with me to find out more.

I have twice tried to put all the details on the blog, and lost it, so just call me if you want to know more.

    Hugs

    Paris is still going ahead

Tuesday, June 16, 2009, 08:46 PM CET [General]

    Hello Red Hat Friends

Just to let everyone know that the plans for Paris are still going ahead.  In fact as you can see above I checked in with Mickey and his friends quite recently (my two granddaughters came over for their school holidays in May)

I do not keep sending out emails when nothing is changing, but some people seem to be worried because they have not heard from me for a while.

Registration for this fun event will open towards the end of October.

For anyone who has not yet heard about the Paris funvention, it is taking place at Disneyland Paris from 1-3 October 2010 and is open to all nationalities of Red Hatters.  Please let me know if you want to have details and join the mailing list.  The list is divided into countries so let me know where you are from and that is all you need to do for now.

    See you in Paris!

    Sue

Hi, so glad to hear from you. Have to tell you about this week so far..Sunday we went to see Hats , it was at a little Opera House and it was so cute. Ruby Red Hat was a puppet in it and the ladies would tell her their problems and she would try and solve what was wrong with them then they would sing a funny song to go along with it. It was done by civic players not the real cast but it was great , they did a great job. So funny. Today was a lunch and munch and we had 11 of us there, some had dropped out and some had stayed in the Red Hats but we went to Pizza Hut and had a real nice time and the food was good to. Even brought DH some home to.
It sounds like you are going to have a big times on your cruises. I have a cousin who is a world traveler to. She is a retired school teacher and goes all over. She just emailed me that Sunday she is leaving for California. She just got back from Washington D.C. she has been to China, Russia, AFrica , well I can't name all the places she's been. She sends me a post card which is nice and sometimes a book.
Paris that sounds like a great place for a Red Hat funvention, that would be so fun to hear about that when you go, drop me a line and let me hear what fun you had.
Glad you are all healed up, I go any way to my Red Hat meetings and lunches. Don't like to miss any of them.
Thanks for writting and keep in touch, it's really nice to hear from you.

Hi, just dropped in to say hi. You sure have led an exciting life compared to mine. I am from Indiana and haven't been out of Indiana for a long time. I have leg problems so it's hard for me to do so..just saw the play Hats at a civic theater, loved it. Menapause was the best though. Thanks for letting me drop by to say hi, write me a note if you have time. Your Red Hat friend Rita
