This was the first Ya Ya Dames Hat Workshop was held on July 17th. Four of us met at The Coffee Club (south Redwood Rd), for sweet treats, time to get better acquainted, as well as time and space to work on our hats. Sandi, Val, Janet and myself got to know each other a bit; and enjoyed pastries while

making Hat bands. (I didn’t get any pictures of this meeting)

Second Ya Ya Dames luncheon was held on May 15th. Three of us met at Virg’s Family Restaurant; a local favorite meeting spot, known for great Fish and Mexican food. And Yes we started with dessert, conversation and laughs. Including recent goings on with each of us and plans for next month.

We had a grand time. As everyone brought a camera this time, we have lots of pics. Sandi wore her RHS Hat, Val wore a red hat with purple veil trim, and I wore second red hat.

    First Ya Ya Dames Luncheon

Saturday, May 26, 2012, 4:17 PM [Chapter Activity]

First Ya Ya Dames luncheon was held on April 17th. Three of us met at the Red Robin in Valley Fair Mall for conversion and lunch. I wore my terra red hat. My sister-in-law wore the RHS Red Hat that came with my New Member Kit (Hers was still in transit, arrived on the 19.) And my longtime girlfriend was somewhat blindsided. Though pleased to join the fun.

We had a great time. Eat fun foods, did a lot of catching up. We started on plans for next month.

No one thought to bring a camera.

    From an other forum:

4/13 - I just join on the 6th. But am having problems getting a hold of a local chapter. And it is so cool that there are sister in the group. Thanks Cecelia

4/13 - Have you gone hat shopping yet? I loved fooling with my hat. Every month I changed the decoration on it. My favorite was the month I put a bird on it! There were no groups here so I got a group of women together and we started meeting for a meal once a month. I miss it. Write again and let me know if you manage to find a group. And tell me about your hat! Tumblin Tumbleweed

4/13 - The first chapter that I joined folded, but the second one is going strong. Don't give up if the first group is shaky! Mary380

4/14 - Still looking, I had my first mini hat made by the time my Welcome kit arrived. With a big basic floppy hat in it. Then today while looking in a closet for a Hat Pin, I came across a burgundy felt fedora my Mother wear in her Fifties and Sixties. In the next few days I will make a couple of changes to the hat band and have three fun hats to start with. I will that pics of my hats and post. Also want to get one of me in my best hat the RHS Bulletin Board.  LadyJaguar

    Time Passes...

    Monday, April 16, 2012, 10:57 AM [General]

4/12 - I think I am too much of a tomboy to think of being a Queen.

4/12 - If you can have fun and are somewhat of an organizer, you can be a Queen. Grab 2 friends and go out in your colors.  Queen RazZ

4/12 - Check the event calendar; grab your hat & go. Get a friend to go
with you...next thing you know, you will be amongst a whole Circle of Friends. You may find an "open" chapter that way. Or, as someone said.. you can start your own. Have Fun! SweetThang

4/12 - That blows my mind!
We have a chapter based here in Indy that does nothing but equestrian stuff.
And another that does parades on scooters and wheeled vehicles.
A chapter on the QMB is all about Nascar Racing.

Tomboy I'm not; but I would climb a tree (or ladder) to get a better view at an event.
Read around and attend a few events before you further the notion that Queens are little old ladies who sip tea and never have gas.
Hope to see you somewhere so you can see for yourself...  LADY000E

    4/13 - ROTFLMAO
You're right I don't think every queen is a little old lady. I am sure they are not. at the same time I need to get to know more about Red Hats before I think about Queenhood/Queenship.
And the scooter thing sounds like great fun. Would need to learn to ride a horse before hiding one for an outing.
Still waiting to hear from my local chapters.  Cecelia

4/11 - I tend to be a bit isolated, which is why I joined Red Hats. but I am also fun loving, arty/creatsie, and want to have fun. Cecelia

4/11 - Cecelia, welcome to red hatting from Southern California. Hope you find a chapter soon, but as others have said, if you don't get a response, start your own chapter. redhatqueen1
